How to paint the perfect petal by Bananagum & Flutterby

1. Load the base colour – Coat the full brush in white (or another light shade).
2. Add a second colour – Gently wipe the tip clean of white (use a cloth), then touch just the point into a deeper hue so the second colour appears brighter.
3. Press to shape – Hold the handle perpendicular to the skin and press the brush down firmly, letting the belly create the width of the petal. Petal size depends on the pressure you use.
4. Lift with control – Pull up toward the tip to form a clean point. Adjust pressure to change petal size.
5. Repeat and rotate – Use a small dot as your centre guide, then press petals around it. Flowers tend to look best with an odd number of petals, with five being ideal for face painting.

The pointed tip also works beautifully for teardrops, stems, and other fine details, making this brush a versatile staple in any artist’s kit.
